What does it take to design the smart gym of the future? The cliche of 'big box gyms’ was in need of re-inventing and that’s what we set about doing when tasked with designing the B_FIT smart gym for The Armah Sports Company in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Why design is a crucial element to the success of the competitive socialising trend
Competitive socialising is a burgeoning scene in the hospitality industry that describes a new breed of high-end, experiential leisure experience that merges food and drink with game-playing and goes from day to night. No longer considered a fad, competitive socialising is here to stay for the long-term. Creating an immersive, visually stimulating experience has never been more important. So, how do you heighten the game-playing experience and make competitive socialising truly immersive? It’s all in the design.
How iconic restaurant design kick started the rock ‘n’ roller burger revolution
We’ve been reminiscing as we enter the tenth year of our partnership with MEATliquor, that’s ten glorious years since we kick started the infamous rock ‘n’ roller burger revolution togther. It’s fair to say we’re pretty chuffed with what we’ve achieved over that time.
It’s often all too easy to shout about our shiny, new clients but it’s the clients who have been with us for years, those we’ve weathered storms with, those we’ve shared a late night beer over a graffiti can with and those we’ve even cried tears of joy with, that make all the hard work possibly more worthwhile. And what can we say about the guys at MEATliquor but wow, we’ve gone to places we never thought we would and we’re all the better for it!
Why it pays to focus on the design process

At Shed it’s our vision to create unique branded interior design that is an extension of the brand we’re designing for. That means creatively, and sometimes sensitively, taking into account the unique space and environment we’re working in, and making it come alive for a brand…
Ulu Cliffhouse, Bali, crowned one of the world’s most beautiful restaurants
Whilst we sit in our London office dreaming of sunnier days, our minds often turn to one of our most celebrated and revered hospitality design projects – Ulu Cliffhouse in Bali, designed for The Mandala Group. Especially when its heaped with esteemed praise from CNN Traveller naming it ‘one of the world's most beautiful restaurants’ and a noting its memorable 'beach club with a view'.
The position of this restaurant above the Uluwatu clifftops is without doubt a breath-taking location and provided all the inspiration we needed to create something special. Our role was to take a cue from the striking natural beauty of the clifftop rocks and Indian Ocean below and re-imagine a new generation hotel and restaurant that danced to the beat of its own drum in this surfer’s paradise…
How to use lighting to enhance customer experience in designed interior
One of our lead interior architect and designers, Dave Dalziel, draws on learnings from some of our recent projects to discuss the importance of lighting to create mood and heighten consumer experience.
Lighting can, and does, play a vital role in environmental brand experiences. It’s what people experience in terms of a physical space and journey. Design and feature lighting products that play up to a certain design style or schemes’ aesthetic are only enhanced further by a considerate lighting design approach working holistically…
